Ayurveda and Marma Therapy
The naturopath medicines of Ayurveda are world renowned for its healing abilities. Ayurveda means Science of Life. It helps in various chronic conditions such as Immune system disorders, Hormonal problems, Neurological issues, and Musculo-skeletal disorders. The unique holistic treatment approach helps in reliving symptoms of complex medical conditions to minor ailments.
Maharshees (seers and sages) of ancient India developed and practiced a Naturopathic system of
medicine about 5000 years ago, known as Ayurveda . The legacy of this primeval medical system is passed
on through generations for our benefit. Ayurveda is practiced in many countries including the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Singapore.
More info...
Marmas are defined as three-dimensional loci or points of the body where the subtle life energy called Prana is situated locally.
There are 108 therapeutically important Marmas, most of which are psychosomatic in nature, linked to vital organs and systems by Nadis.
Marmas are closely associated to Nervous, Endocrinal and Immune (NEI) Systems of the body and are specifically located on nerves,
muscles, blood vessels, joints etc. Each Marma has a name either in Sanskrit, Tamil or Malayalam, which denotes its property or location.
Anatomically and physiologically, Marmas are the sangamum (intersections) of the lymphatic, haematic and the neuronal structures
where exchange & enrichment of body fluids, blood gases and nerve impulses takes place in a unique way. A simple analogy will be the home utility systems,
where Marmas correspond to the controls (switches & taps) and the Nadis represent the distribution lines (wiring & plumbing).
